Exclusive Premiere: Kate Kelly's "The Garden"
Nashville based singer-songwriter Kate Kelly's debut full-length album, "The Wonder Of It All" is due next month but we've got an exclusive sneak peek of "The Garden" from the anticipated release. We caught up with Kelly to discuss the inspiration that sparked "The Garden" and how it helped her grow into herself. Read more below.
"I had a really difficult year in 2017. As I tried to make sense of it all, I found myself longing for solace, belonging, and the strength to rise above my situation. On a day where I was feeling particularly low, I decided to go running, and in doing so, I somehow got myself completely lost in my own neighborhood. I stopped in my tracks, defeated, searching for direction both internally and externally. I turned another corner, hoping to be pointed in the direction of home, only to stumble upon a lush meadow surrounded by creeks and gardens. As I explored my surroundings I came to find that this meadow was created after several homes were destroyed in the Nashville flood of 2010. This meadow and this moment became a symbol of my healing and the sole inspiration inspiration of "The Garden"— representing any place you go to grow to rise above dark circumstances— helping me to realize that maybe I, too, could create something beautiful out of the storms of my life." - Kate Kelly
